Christmas in Chino Hills

Now that Halloween has past, much like department stores and radio hosts we can start thinking about the next big holiday coming up on our calendars, Christmas. No knocks to Thanksgiving but Christmas holds a special place in our hearts that even the best-cooked turkeys can’t fill. And in the spirit of Ol’ Saint Nicholas the City of Chino Hills can help make this Christmas one to remember.

The Adopt-a-Family program helps families in Chino Hills who are unable to provide, food, clothing, and presents for their kids celebrate Christmas like those of us that are lucky enough not to have fallen on tough times this year. If you, a local business, or community member would like to “adopt” one of these families then here’s how to do it.

1.     Fill out and submit the application form by November 4 here:

https://www.chinohills.org/FormCenter/Community-Services-2/Adopt-a-Family-Donor-Application-43

and choose to sponsor a Small (2-4), medium (5-7), or large (8+) family for Christmas. If you would like to help but are unable to sponsor an entire family, gift cards can also be donated which will be used to help the families.

2.     Starting November 16 the sponsored families’ Christmas wish lists will be sent to their sponsors. To ensure equality among adopted families a minimum of 4 items and a maximum of up to 6 items per child will be accepted. An equal ratio of toys to clothes is requested (i.e. 2 toys and 2 articles of clothing).

3.     On Monday December 5 drop off the gifts at the McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center:

14280 Peyton Drive, Chino Hills, CA

4.     Have a happy holiday season!

Please note that children’s wish lists are the priority, although gifts for the parents are not prohibited. Clothing is also seen as a priority-buy due to these families’ lack of suitable clothing for the winter months (i.e. shoes, socks, jackets).
