Union contracts signed for Las Vegas-to-California high-speed rail project! Major News for Rancho Cucamonga!

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The high-speed rail project that would connect Las Vegas with Southern California has inked labor agreements with multiple unions.

Brightline West announced on Tuesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with a coalition of 13 rail unions that represent more than 160,000 workers in the U.S.

"Americans want high-speed rail, and Brightline West and the High-Speed Rail Labor Coalition will deliver," the coalition said in a press release.

The proposed high-speed rail would connect Las Vegas and California with a 218-mile system within the Interstate 15 right-of-way.

Brightline says the train would be able to reach speeds of 200 miles per hour.

Stations are planned south of the Las Vegas Strip and in Rancho Cucamonga, Apple Valley and Hesperia. The station in Rancho Cucamonga would connect with the Los Angeles area's Metrolink commuter rail system.

The rail project has been slowly progressing as it clears regulatory and funding hurdles. Last week, Brightline agreed with the state of California to build wildlife overcrossings for the project.

Summer event series: Concerts in the Park in Chino Hills

The City of Chino Hills hosts an annual summertime event series, Concerts in the Park, which is continuing now until August 7. This program has already hosted three different free concerts, with genres ranging from “70’s & 80’s Smooth Rock” to “Tribute to Journey” and are scheduled to play Country, Latin and Salsa, as well as play tribute to the Foo Fighters, Queen and more in the near future.

Chino Hills Facility Rental System Upgrade

In order to further improve the Facility Rental System for the City of Chino Hills, there will be an upgrade taking place from September 1st through the 5th. Residents will not be able to access the system to rent buildings and gazebos during this time frame.

Making changes to existing reservations, accepting payments, and/or adding new reservations will also be unavailable during this time.
